Dear Friends in Christ: Well the concern is growing. There isn’t a day that goes by that the Coronavirus is not a topic of conversation! Just this past week I received two emails and one phone call from parishioners asking if we, as a parish, are going to do anything as a precaution during this time at our Masses. Cactus Leather, Return of the King, and Stewardship
I saw an article on Facebook the other day that caught my eye immediately. It spoke about two men in Mexico who have created "vegan leather" out of cactus leaves. Whaaaaaaaat?! I thought it sounded strange, but I read the article and was really impressed. It reminded me of stewardship, the biblical concept that the Earth is a gift from God (and not ours to do with what we'd like). This cactus leather is a great example of stewardship! Dear Friends in Christ: And so it began. The forty days of Lent began this past Wednesday! How is it going? Every year on Ash Wednesday I hear the same old statements from family and friends telling me their goals for Lent. Sadly, these statements are often not about real change. Man, 2020 is really flying by. Am I the only one who feels like Christmas was yesterday? This is wild! But Lent is here, whether we realize it or not. This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting, prayer, and penance.
