The Parish Social Ministry is a group of dedicated parishioners who desire to serve the Church and society and in particular to have concern for those most in need in our community. Here is a brief overview of most of the projects your Social Ministry is currently involved in:
Harvest Garden (St Thomas Becket grounds) - Produce to Cheshire Community Food Pantry.
Advent Giving Trees – gifts and gift cards are collected for Cheshire Community Food Pantry and local nursing home, St Vincent DePaul, Cheshire Dept. of Human Services, Carolyn’s Place.
Food Collections – Monthly at St Thomas Becket campus, ongoing at St Bridget of Sweden
Sunday Shelter Supper –provided once per month to St Vincent DePaul Shelter in Waterbury
Shelter Sandwiches – weekly provision of 150 (made in home) sandwiches (Thursdays) delivered to local drop off point and taken to above shelter
Friends Feeding Friends – On site provision, preparation and serving of noon meals (2nd, 3rd & 5th Saturday of each month as they occur) at St Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen on Baldwin St in Waterbury
Other “Drives & Collections” – A) Back to School Uniforms & Supplies, B) Clothing & Household items (October), C) Pajama Project, D) Coats & Hats/gloves/scarves, E) Prison Ministry needs
